Cartoon shows New York Governor Thomas E. Dewey as a happy soldier headed for the 1952 Republican presidential nominating convention in Chicago, carrying a smoking rifle labeled "N.Y. G.O.P. Delegates" and "92 Votes," and whistling "I Like Ike." The caption alludes to the Civil War marching song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home." Reflects the fact that Dewey had delivered all the votes of the New York Republican delegation to General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
