Cartoon shows the United States and the Soviet Union in a "space race," a track competition. Nikita Khrushchev leaps over a hurdle made of nuclear weapons with a crossbar, while President John F. Kennedy is forced to climb between the bars of the hurdle. The Soviets had already achieved manned space flight while the United States had sent unmanned rockets into space.
