Postmaster General New receives largest letter ever sent by air mail. The largest letter ever sent by air mail was received by Postmaster General Harry S. New in Washington today from the Chamber of Commerce of Muskegon, Michigan. The letter contained a vote of thanks from the business men of Muskegon to the Post Office Department for establishing an air mail route from Chicago to Muskegon. Postman Hughes is shown delivering the huge missle [sic] to the Postmaster General. The letter measured 8 1/2 by 6 feet and required $11.50 postage

Former devised title from Flickr Commons project, 2020 and Mount Pleasant Daily Times, July 19, 1928: "[Postmaster General Harry S. New, standing next to the largest airmail letter ever sent, from the Greater Muskegon (MI) Chamber of Commerce commemorating the opening of airmail service between Muskegon and Chicago]."
The letter measured 8 1/2 x 6 feet and had $11.50 in airmail stamps.
