Examining Board member of Local Union #3, William G Riley, Sr., shares his memories of growing up in the union's co-operative housing development, Electchester, in Queens, where he still lives, 54 years later. He explains how he became an electrician and shares his journey in becoming a High Voltage Splicer and a Shop Steward, among other specialties. Mr. Riley talks about a stroke he incurred on the job site and how he was able regain his ability to speak. Approximately two years later, he returned to the industry and currently works as a maintenance electrician at Citi Field for the Mets. He speaks about training apprentices, imparting wisdom to youth, and reflects on his struggles and successes as a man of color after 37 years in the industry.
