This interview with domestic worker Liseth Valencia, like others in this collection, focuses on the following themes: her biographical and background information; domestic workers' overview of their work inside their employer's homes and how they frame it as "real work"; how the domestic workforce negotiates and balances their work in other people's homes with the needs and demands of own homes and personal lives; their relationship to Domestic Workers United and the movement for domestic workers' rights; and the community of workers that has been created through the DWU organization. In this interview, Valencia also recounts the story of her migration from Guatemala, and how she negotiates her relationships with employers. Of particular note is her resistance to creating a "love" relationship with the children and families she works for.
