The analysis of such books written on Honduras during the nineteenth century clearly shows the influence of the romantic aesthetics distinctive of the period. Deeply moving and sometimes contradictory images bring to life a country of dreams and nightmares. This research explores the many transfigurations of the country through travel writing and the possibility of an alternative reading on the threshold between reality and fiction.
