Three-quarter length portrait of Boehm who stands holding flute in his left hand (on viewer's right). His left arm rests on a table at the right. The table is covered with a carpet and a piece of sheet music is beneath Boehm's left arm. He wears a tattersall vest and trousers, a dark three-quarter length coat, white shirt, and dark cravat tied in a bow. He has light, tousled hair and sideburns.
