English edition of pt. 1 of de Bry's collection "America." Also published by Richard Hakluyt as part of his Principall navigations, voiages, and discoveries of the English nation. De Bry, a skillful engraver, in 1587 traveled to England, where he met Richard Hakluyt. Hakluyt gave him a copy of Hariot's Virginia, and in 1590 De Bry published the Hariot work in Latin, German, French, and English as part I of the Great Voyages. ... the succeeding parts were published only in Latin and German.
