The film begins with a young couple picnicking in a park in Florida. From a scene one meter wide, one meter from the camera, we pull away vertically at a rate of acceleration increasing distance ten times for each elapsing ten seconds far out into the universe. Returning to earth, we decelerate to arrive at the same scene. We move in closer, as we again change the size of the scene by decreasing distance from the camera one magnitude each ten seconds. The surface of the skin on the man's hand gives way to cells and cell components, until we see the DNA moleculein. As our magnification increases, we penetrate the electron cloud of an atom and eventually arrive at the atomic nucleus, with its pulsating nuclear core elements.
