"27 feet. A splendid scene, showing a large number of curious Filipino boats being worked on the Pasig River near Manila by natives. The picture is unusually fine photographically"--American Mutoscope & Biograph picture catalogue.
American Mutoscope and Biograph Company.
Copyright: American Mutoscope & Biograph Co.; 18Apr1902; H16737.
Original main title lacking. DLC
Duration: 0:22 at 18 fps.
Probable release date from AFI catalog: film beginnings, 1893-1910.
Early motion pictures and the Copyright catalog indicate that the subject of this film is the Spanish-American War, but the film was taken in 1900, after the end of the war (August 1898). The title appears to be a facetious reference to Emilio Aguinaldo, who led Philippine forces against the United States during the Philippine American War (1899-1902). No naval ships are depicted and Aguinaldo does not appear in the film.
Biograph production no. 1454.
Paper print shelf number (LC 0191) was changed when the paper prints were re-housed. DLC
Date of production, February 2, 1900, from Biograph production log. Erroneous date of production from Early motion pictures: May 9, 1900. Erroneous date of production from the AFI catalog: February 18, 1900.
