- This book looks at a Tojolabal community in Chiapas, confrontations with dislocation from land (privatization, land grabs) brought about by neoliberal transformations and pressures operating in Mexico, and the failure of the state to protect vulnerable indigenous landholdings. The author points out that a fifth of the land surface of Mexico is currently in indigenous hands, and their relative powerlessness before the state makes them an easy target for land grabbing. Introduces in the discussion of Tojolabal cosmovision the term "cosmovivencia" or "cosmovision as lived." The author advocates for return of taken land as part of a repatriation of the material basis of this cosmovision.
