- This article discusses the sculptures of the Matlatzinca state before it was conquered and renamed Calixtlahuaca by the Aztecs. The analysis demonstrated that the Matlatzinca had a sculptural corpus distinct from the Aztecs. This contradicts an earlier supposition by García Payón that both cultures were descendants of the Toltecs. [AAJ]
