Biography/History note | Dr Chew graduated from Nanyang University with Bachelor of Arts 1st Class Honours (1970), majoring in Government and Public Administration. He worked for the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 1977, he gained his Bachelor of Divinity Honours degree from London University. He is the first Chinese educated Bishop in the history of the Diocese of Singapore. He completed his Ph.D. in Old Testament studies at Sheffield University in 1983. When he returned to Singapore, he was lecturer and then Principal of Singapore Trinity Theological College. Currently, he is also the President of the Fellowship of Evangelical Students, Singapore and Singapore Anglican Community Services; Honorary President of the Bible Society of Singapore; Chairman of TTC and World Chinese Anglican Clergy Fellowship; and the Acting Chairman of the Council of Church of East Asia. |
