The disastrous Wrangel Island expedition, 2022: CIP galley (Ada Deletuk; Ada Blackjack; Ada Blackjack Johnson; born in 1898 in a small village near Nome, Alaska; her family was Inuit; she was raised by white Methodist missionaries; at the age of 16, Ada married Jack Blackjack; mother of three children, but two died; after her husband abandoned the family, she worked as a seamstress; joined Stefansson's expedition to Wrangel Island, Russia to make money; the expedition began on Sept. 16, 1921; Ada returned as the sole survivor in Aug. 2023; she married again and had another son in 1924)
