Wikipedia (English), December 22, 2015 (Rudolf Christoph Freiherr (Baron) von Gersdorff (March 27, 1905 - January 27, 1980): officer in the German Army; born in Lüben (now Lubin, Poland); joined the Reichswehr in 1923; married Renata Kracker von Schwartzenfeldt, 1934; transferred to the Abwehr for Operation Barbarossa, 1941; involved in a conspiracy to assassinate Adolf Hitler, March 1943 - the plan failed but he was undetected; prevented from resuming his military career after the war; later dedicated his life to charity in the Order of St. John; founding president of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe, which he chaired 1952-1963; died in Munich in 1980)
