Oxford dictionary of national biography online, Novermber 1, 2013 (Fulton, John Scott, Baron Fulton (1902-1986), university administrator and public servant, was born in Dundee on 27 May 1902; educated at St Andrews University and Balliol College, Oxford; after two years as a lecturer at the London School of Economics (1926-8), he returned to Balliol in 1928 as a fellow and tutor in philosophy, remaining in that position until 1947; was principal for twelve years (1947-59) of the University College of Swansea, with two spells, in 1952-4 and 1958-9, as vice-chancellor of the University of Wales; died on 14 March 1986 at his home, Brook House, Thornton-le-Dale, Pickering, Yorkshire)
