Haworth papers, 1944-77 (Gerald Frederick Tape; also known as Jerry; b. 1915; d. 2005; physicist; Washington science advisor and policy-maker; prof. at Cornell until WWII; during WWII, Radiation Laboratory at MIT to help in the development of radar; after WWII, prof. at University of Illinois; in 1950, Brookhaven National Laboratory as asst. to the director, Leland Haworth, and a year later was named Deputy Director; later with Associated Universities, Inc; managed the National Radio Astronomy Observatory for the National Science Foundation on Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), 1963-69; U.S. rep. to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), 1973-77; member, President's Science Advisory Committee; member, Defense Science Board; chaired the CIA's Nuclear Intelligence Panel.)
