German Wikipedia, viewed on Oct. 22nd, 2024 (Henri Willem Hoesen (born May 6th, 1885 in Fort de Kock; died December 21st, 1970 in Rotterdam) was a Dutch physician. Hoesen worked as an assistant to Professor Rudolf Hendrik Saltet at the University of Amsterdam until he went to Java as a medical officer in 1912, where he was involved in the fight against the third plague epidemic. Two years later, he returned to the Netherlands in 1914 and received his doctorate on June 2, 1917 with the thesis "Gegevens omtrent de indicatoren der rattenpest op Java")
