Found inRussian Vikipedii︠a︡, viewed 17 June 2021: (Румовский, Степан Яковлевич = Rumovskiĭ, Stepan I︠A︡kovlevich, Russian astronomer, mathematician, one of the first members of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, member of the Stockholm Academy of Sciences, a founder of Kazan University. Born 29 October 1734 in Vladimirskai︠a︡ gubernīi︠a︡, the son of a priest with no surname, died 6/18 July 1812 in Saint Petersburg. Studied higher mathematics at the Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg, studied mathematics in Berlin under L. Euler, taught mathematics and astronomy at the Saint Petersburg Academic University, where he also headed the geography department, participated in expeditions to observe astronomic phenomena and in mapmaking using astronomical data)
