Wikipedia, Jan 10, 2024: (Jeanne de Clisson (1300-1359), also known as Jeanne de Belleville and the Lioness of Brittany, was a French/Breton former noblewoman who became a privateer to avenge her third husband Olivier IV de Clisson after he was executed for treason by the French King Philip VI. She crossed the English Channel targeting French ships and often slaughtering their crew. It was her practice to leave at least one sailor alive to carry her message of vengeance.)

World Wide Web, Jan 10, 2024: (Jeanne de Clisson was born in Belleville-sur-Vie in the year 1300. Coming from a noble family, she is also known as Jeanne de Belleville or The Lioness of Brittany. Her life is a remarkable example of how women in the Middle Ages could perform tasks that defy stereotypes. Jeanne was active politically, issued legal proceedings against her husband (and won), tried to enable a prison break, successfully captured a number of castles, and fought as a maritime warrior or pirate for roughly thirteen years.)
