Encyclopedia of Holocaust literature, 2002: pages 47-48 (Fania Fénelon, 1918-1983; wrote memoir "Sursis pour l'orchestre" which was produced into a film in 1980, Playing for Time, that describes the women's orchestra of Auschwitz. Born in France in 1918 as Fania Goldstein, took Fénelon as her name as a singer on the Parasian cabaret circuit. Sent to Drancy concentration camp outside Paris, then sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau in January 1944 where she was put into the orchestra until November 1944 when she was sent to Bergen-Belsen until it was liberated on April 15, 1945. After the war she resumed her career as a singer )
