Scanlon, Jennifer. American women historians, 1700s-1990s, 1996: pages 216-218 (Ida Minerva Tarbell, born November 5, 1857 in Erie County, Pennsylvania. Received her B.A. from Allegheny College in 1880 and became a teacher and writer for a magazine. Went to Paris to study, enrolling in the Sorbonne in 1891 and continued writing articles for magazines and later many books, including biographies. Died in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 6, 1944.)
