Encyclopedia of Holocaust literature, 2002: pages 181-182 (Hannah Senesh; born in Budapest in 1921. Her diary (1934-end of 1943) "reveals how a young Jewish girl came of age at a time when young Jewish girls were being systematically murdered." In September 1939 she moved to a kibbutz in Palestine where she later joined the Resistance and in 1943 joined an elite corps of Jewish paratroopers formed by the British and the Haganah. Was dropped into Yugoslavia to rescue Allied prisoners. When she crossed into Hungary she was arrested on June 7, 1944 and was executed on November 7, 1944 after enduring months of torture. )
