Wikipedia, 26 March 2020 (Keir Hardie; James Keir Hardie (15 August 1856-26 September 1915) was a Scottish trade unionist and politician; founder of the Labour Party, and served as its first parliamentary leader from 1906 to 1908; worked in the mines and became a trade union leader; on 25 August 1888 the Scottish Labour Party (a different party from the 1994-created Scottish Labour Party) was founded, with Hardie becoming the party's first secretary; in 1892 became MP for West Ham South; in 1893, Hardie and others formed the Independent Labour Party; born in Newhouse, Lanarkshire; died in Glasgow)
