Wikipedia, viewed 23 March 2020: David McCurdy Baird (Canadian geologist, photographer, and academic; born July 28, 1920, Fredericton, New Brunswick; received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1941 from the University of New Brunswick, a Master of Science degree in 1943 from the University of Rochester, and a Ph.D. in 1947 from McGill University; taught at the University of Rochester (1941-1943), McGill University (1943-1946), Mount Allison University (1946-1947), the University of New Brunswick (1947-1952), Memorial University of Newfoundland (1952-1958) and the University of Ottawa (1958-1966), worked as a provincial geologist in Newfoundland (1952-1958) as the director of the Canada Science and Technology Museum (1966-1981), as the director of the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology (1981-1986), and as the director of the Rideau Canal Museum (1986); made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1958 and an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1986; died September 10, 2019)
