He took various posts in music; He now flung himself into collecting, amassing more than 1500 tunes in the next four years, and into promoting the cause of folk-music. In 1911 he won musical control of the prestigious Stratford upon Avon festival; On 6 December 1911 the English Folk Dance Society was founded, giving Sharp the organizational base he had lacked.
