I was also told he was 59 years old when he was killed ... subtract 59 from 1890 and ... come up with the figure 1831; when a child is born, he/she [is] recorded on a Buffalo hide called a Winter count. On the anniversary of the Childs birth, a progress drawing is made, so this how we learned of our Great-Grandfather's date of birth and age.)
