Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: pages 270-271 ("Daniel Drake, physician and founder of Ohio Medical College, born near Bound Brook, NJ. In 1788 his family moved to Mays Lick, Ky, and in 1800 he was apprenticed to a physician in Cincinnati, Ohio. Studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Practiced medicine in Mays Lick and Cincinnati then became a professor in the department of medicine at Transylvania University 1817-1818 and 1823-1827 and at Louisville Medical Institute 1839-1849. Founded the Medical College of Ohio in 1819 (now the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and the Commercial Hospital and Lunatic Asylum (now the University of Cincinnati Hospital) in 1820/1821. Died in Cincinnati)
