Dictionary of African Biography, accessed March 13, 2015, via Oxford African American Studies Center database: (Mwangi, Meja; David Dominic Mwangi; fiction writer; born 27 December 1948 in Nanyuki, Kenya; studied science briefly at Kenyatta College (early 1970s); attended Leeds University (England) (1990s) but nowhere did he complete a full university degree; embarked on a career of practical experience in the film industry that would later give way to writing; worked for the French Broadcasting Corporation (1972); a film librarian for the British Council in Nairobi; The Last Plague (2000) won the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for literature; most likely he will be remembered for a trilogy of early novels that might best be described as "urban picaresque"- Kill Me Quick (1973), Going Down River Road (1976), and The Cockroach Dance (1979))
