Harley, J. William Byrd, c1997: p. 14 (in his will, dated Nov. 15, 1622, he describes himself as "nowe in the Eightieth yeare of myne age" (hence b. between Nov. 15, 1542 and Nov. 15, 1543), but the will seems to have been drafted a few years before the fair copy was prepared for his signature; in testimony submitted to the Court of Star Chamber, in Byrd's own hand and dated Oct. 2, 1598, he describes himself as "58. yeares or ther abouts," placing his birth in late 1539 or in 1540)
