Wikipedia, August 26, 2-14 (Erich Gruner; born January 5, 1915 in Bern; died February 21, 2001; Swiss historian and political scientist; from 1941 to 1961 he worked as a high school teacher in Basel; in 1961 he became full professor of social history and sociology of Swiss politics at the University of Bern; in 1965 he founded the Research Centre for Swiss Politics (now the nstitute of Political Science) at the University of Bern, which he directed until his retirement in 1985; Gruner's work focused on the associations, parties and political institutions of Switzerland; he promoted the application of social science approaches in Swiss historiography as well as the institutionalization of political science in Switzerland)
