Wikipedia, French, March 17, 2017 (Chantal Chawaf; Chantal Chawaf (born November 15, 1943 in Paris) is a French writer; Chawaf was born in Paris, during World War II; she studied art and literature at l'École du Louvre, after which she married and lived for 7 years in Damascus, where she had two children; she also traveled and lived for some years in Europe and North America; in 1974, she published her first book in the newest Editions des Femmes; Chawaf's first book, Retable. la rêverie, started what critics called "Écriture féminine"; Other key texts by Chawaf include; Cercoeur (1975) and Maternité (1979); she has traveled extensively in the United States where she is translated and studied in universities; she is the author of numerous novels, as well as a play and two essays on the writing of the body; list of works includes Mélusine des détritus, Éditions du Rocher, 2002, under the pseudonym Marie de la Montluel)
