Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, viewed on February 21, 2017 : Clarke, Mary Anne (Apparently born in London in 1776. Some sources give her father's name as Thompson, and her stepfather's as Farquhar; other sources name Farquhar as her father. About 1803 she took a large house in Gloucester Place. She later lived abroad, in Brussels and, after 1815, in Paris. She died at Boulogne on 18 June 1852.)
