Wikipedia, April 5, 2014: (Leconte de Lisle; Charles Marie René Leconte de Lisle (22 October 1818 - 17 July 1894) was a French poet of the Parnassian movement. He is mainly known, as a writer, by his family name Leconte de Lisle; Leconte de Lisle was born on the island of Réunion. He spent his childhood on this island and in Britanny; he went to Rennes to complete his education, studying especially Greek, Italian and history. In 1845 he settled definitely in Paris; His work is dominated by his three poetry corpora: Poèmes antiques (1852), Poèmes barbares (1862), Poèmes tragiques (1884). Also, he was known for his translations of antique authors; in 1886 he was elected to the Académie française; He died at Voisins in 1894, near Louveciennes, in the department Yvelines)
