Biography/History noteThe Buddhist Society was founded 1924 by the late Christmas Humphreys, building on the pioneer work of the Buddhist Society of Great Britain and Ireland (1907 to 1925/6). A lay organization, it has remained non-sectarian in character and open in principle to the teachings of all schools.
