Wikipedia, September 18, 2019 (Muhammad al-Jazuli; Abū ʻAbdullah Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Abū Bakr al-Jazūli al-Simlālī; often known as Imam al-Jazuli or Sheikh Jazuli; Moroccan Sufi leader of the Berber tribe of the Jazulah; best known for compiling the Dala'il al-Kayyrat, a popular Muslim prayer book; he is one of the seven saints of Marrakesh; born in the Sous area of Morocco, 1404 CE/807 AD; studied at the Madrasat As-Saffarîn in Fez; left the area and spent 40 years in Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem; returned to Fez, completed Dala'il al-Kayyrat; initiated into the Shadhili Tariqa (Sufi order); spent 14 years in seclusion, then went to Safi, where he gathered many followers; expelled and later poisoned by governor of Safi, leading to his death in 1465; tomb in Afoughal became center of Saadian resistance against the Portuguese; in 1541 his body was transferred to Marrakesh where a mausoleum was built for him in the northern part of the Medina)
