In 1959, the Kansas legislature changed the name again to Kansas State University of Agriculture and Applied Science; the "Agriculture and Applied Science" portion has usually been omitted even from official documents such as diplomas and state statutes, and as a practical and legal matter it is usually called Kansas State University)
