Biography/History noteNorman Bethune (1890-1939) was a Canadian surgeon who came to international prominence for his service as a frontline trauma surgeon during the Spanish Civil and for his work supporting the Communist Party of China's Eighth Route Army during the the Second Sino-Japanese War. He is credited with helping to bring modern medicine to rural China.
