A history of the origin of the place names connected with the Chicago & North Western and Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railways, c1908: p. 109 (The settlement was first known as Kettlestrings' Grove [no publs. in LC database]. The second name was Oak Ridge [1840s; no publs. in LC database]. When in the summer of 1848, the railroad reached here from Chicago, the station was named Harlem [no publs. in LC database] ... and the post office was named Noyesville [no publs. in LC database]....
