Wikipedia, Oct. 21, 2010 (Andrew Gilchrist; Sir Andrew Graham Gilchrist, KCMG (1910-1993) was a Special Operations Executive operative and later a UK ambassador; born in 1910 in the village of Hazelbank, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was educated at the Edinburgh Academy and Oxford University; entered the diplomatic service, was POW in a Japanese camp, etc.; he wrote a number of novels, including "Did Van Gogh Paint His Bed?" and some poetry; also a prodigious writer of letters to newspapers)
