Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: pages 96-98 ("Daniel Boone" family moved from Pennsylvania to the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina between 1751 and 1752. Fought against Cherokee under General Braddock. Married Rebecca Bryan August 14, 1756; settled on Sugar Tree Creek. Explored Florida in 1765 then Kentucky starting in 1767 as a hunter then as a settler and commander of frontier forts. Moved to what is now Maysville, Ky. around 1783 where he opened a trading post and tavern, then to what is now Point Pleasant, WV, then to Blue Licks, Kentucky, then to Missouri.)
