Ecclesiasticarum cantionum, 2019: title page verso [translated] (Andrea was born in Venice around 1532 and was an early student and later also a singer with Adrian Willaert, the conductor of the Cathedral of San Marco. In 1555 he was named organist in Venice's Cannaregio district before traveling to Germany around 1562. Here he came to Frankfurt and Munich. The following year 1566 Gabrieli was appointed second organist at San Marco, in 1585 the first organist. He held this office until his death in August 1585.
