Oct. 12, 1943 in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp), viewed Apr. 4, 2007 (Charlotte Salomon (1917-1943), a young German artist, painted her autobiography in the midst of World War II; Salomon's work: "Life or Theater?: An Operetta" unfolds in 1,350 paintings of astonishing vividness and force; after 1980, it achieved international renown through publications, film, drama, and popular exhibits in Amsterdam, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Miami, Tel Aviv, Berlin, etc.)
In the fictional book by David Foekinos "Charlotte", 2014, this French author describes the life of Charlotte Salomon who died at the age of 26. She leaves Germany to go to France where she paints an autobiographical painting.
