Washington post WWW site, viewed Aug. 12, 2019 (Bob Wilber, a clarinetist and saxophonist who was a protege of Sidney Bechet, one of the founding fathers of jazz, and who was a prominent figure in preserving early styles of jazz and swing music, died Aug. 4 [2019] in Chipping Campden, England. He was 91. Mr. Wilber, had lived in Chipping Campden for more than 30 years. Robert Sage Wilber was born March 15, 1928, in New York City. Mr. Wilber maintained an active schedule well into his 80s, releasing numerous albums. He performed with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center orchestra in 2009 and four years later appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival with pianist Bill Charlap and clarinetist Anat Cohen)
