Something About the Author, 1971- : volume 14, page 231 (Born in Sybillenort, Germany, which is now in Poland. Co-founded and co-owned the Rosen Art Gallery in Berlin in the early . Emigrated to New York in 1950 and began writing for Humpty-Dumpty's Magazine for Little Children in 1954. Wrote and illustrated books for children and youth, including tales she heard from her grandmother (Dodo Every Day, 1977). Her memoir, Bad Times, Good Friends, relates her life in Berlin, 1944-1945 when she helped friends (including Jews) escape, and survived Allied bombing. Married Hayward Knotts.)
