Washington post WWW site, viewed November 8, 2022 (in obituary updated November 8, 2022: Doris Grumbach, a wide-ranging author who wrote about love, sex, religion and aging, explored gay and lesbian themes in her novels and earned critical acclaim for her humorous, plain-spoken memoirs about the frustrations of old age, died Nov. 4 in Kennett Square, Pa. She was 104. In addition to writing novels and memoirs, Ms. Grumbach taught English literature and worked as a literary critic. She was also the co-owner of a Washington bookshop, Wayward Books. Doris Muriel Isaac was born in Manhattan on July 12, 1918. She married Leonard Grumbach)
