His 50 ferma, c1997: t.p. (M.F. Hofmeister) p. 19 (ms. (Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde, Vienna) bears the inscription: 50 ferma / a / flauto / M.F. Hofmeister [i.e. monsieur F. Hofmeister?]; could refer to either of two composers whose names are close in spelling: Franz Anton Hoffmeister (1754-1812) and Friedrich Hofmeister (1782-1864); in the absence of any deciding factor we have preferred simply to indicate the annotation found on the ms. [but Friedrich Hofmeister is known as a German music publisher and bibliographer, not a composer])
