Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, April 27, 2016: Aloysius Stepinac page (Aloysius Viktor Stepinac; Croatian form: Alojzije Viktor Stepinac; born 8 May 1898 in Brezinać near Krašić; died 10 February 1960 in Krašić; Croatian Catholic Archbishop of Zagreb, 1937-1960, including the geocidal rule of the Ustaše over the Independent State of Croatia [NDH] from 1941-1945 during World War II; tried by the communist Yugoslav government after the war and convicted of treason and collaboration with the Ustaše regime; served 16 years in prison, then confined to his home village of Krašić; made cardinal in 1953; declared a martyr and beatified in 1998)
