Weinreich, Otto. Ausgewählte Schriften. Band III, 1937-1970, 1979: page 442 (obituary dated March 29, 1960, entitled: Abschied von einem Humanisten: zum Tode von Hermann Kleinknecht: Hermann Kleinknecht, scholar of Greek at the Universität Münster, has died suddenly and unexpectedly; he was born in Marbach in 1907; he obtained his doctorate at Tübingen and his Habilitation at Halle; after teaching at Rostock and at the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin, he went to the Universität Münster in 1953)
Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, Universitätsarchiv website, viewed May 28, 2020 (Hermann Kleinknecht; this source gives 1901 as Kleinknecht's year of birth, but agrees with other sources in stating that he passed his Abitur in 1925. If 1901 was in fact his birth year, he would have been 24 years old at that point, or unusually old. The Abitur is normally administered when students are 18, which agrees better with a birth year of 1907)
