Wikipedia, viewed 30 Sep 2021 (Alberto Ruz Lhuillier was a French-Mexican archaeologist; born in the 8th arrondissement of Paris 27 Jan 1906 as Albert François Charles Ruz, died in Montréal 25 Aug 1979; specialized in pre-Columbian Mesoamerican archaeology; known for having directed the excavations at Palenque and for having discovered the tomb of K'inich Janaab' Pakal; after attending high school in Havana (his father was from Cuba), he was educated in Mexico (Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia) and France (Musée de l'Homme and École des Langues Orientales); became a Mexican citizen in 1936; worked at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, notably as director of the seminar on Maya culture; took over responsibility for research at Palenque in 1945 for the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia; in honor of his work, the Mexican government allowed his remains to be buried opposite the necropolis he had discovered at Palenque)
